The Rhetoric of Economics

If you ask what Americans like, it seems to be the case that they like to be entertained. (Just do not ask them to think. That is soooo …hard!) Who, or what, is it then that makes the American so passive? It is not that there are no benefits that come from entertainment: There are some, sure; and having a good time is normal. But there are also benefits that come of thinking — and why don’t we try it? What is it that could be so terrible there? Why is thinking something to be afraid of?
